Before coming to London in 2005, Shaun worked as a professional singer throughout New Zealand performing regularly in concert, opera, and for television. He studied at the National Opera Studio in London and at the BBIOS, Royal College of Music.

He has also had the rare opportunity of studying privately with the late Luciano Pavarotti in Pesaro, Italy where he was a guest of the Maestro’s household and travelled internationally as part of his entourage in 2000.

Since being in the UK, Shaun has appeared in leading roles with some of the foremost companies and orchestras including appearances with the Royal Philharmonic at Cadogan and Colston Halls.

Opera roles include: Duke Rigoletto (Welsh National Opera), Alfredo La Traviata (Opera de Bauge), Des Grieux Manon (Opera Unwrapped) for Scottish Opera, Lensky in Eugene Onegin (BYO), Rodolfo in La Boheme, Cavaradossi in Tosca , Gonzalve in L’Heure Espagnole Alfred in Die Fledermaus, Frederic in Lakme, Borsa in Rigoletto, Arbace in Idomeneo and Nirenus in Giulio Cesare.

Oratorios include: Gounods' Messe Solennelle, Dvoraks' Stabat Mater, Verdis’ Requiem, Handels’ Messiah, Haydns' Seasons, Puccinis’ Messa di Gloria, Mendelssohns’ Elijah, Beethovens’ 9th Symphony, Coleridge-Taylors’ Hiawatha, Bach’s St Matthew and St John Passion, Schubert’s Mass in G, Beethoven’s Mass in C and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Requiem.

He has partnered crossover artist Hayley Westenra on record and has regularly accompanied her in concert since 2001. He is the featured soloist for the sound track to the movie ‘No.2’ (a winner at the Sundance film festival in 2006) and also featured in London Film Festival 2007. Shaun made his debut with BBC television in the reality programme ‘Maestro’ and has also appeared on BBC3 Radio ‘In Tune’.
